Setup Gmail in Outlook 365 – Getting started with cloud computing can be done using a cloud-based e-mail service such as Google’s Gmail instead of server-based Microsoft Exchange. However, you may not be familiar with the interface of Microsoft Outlook just yet. But not to worry Outlook can be configured to work with Gmail using some steps.
You can set up your Gmail account easily with the automatically configure method of Microsoft Outlook. But you need to set up Gmail to allow you to download mail as POP or to map folders and emails using IMAP. In configuring Outlook to work with Gmail, you must configure Gmail to work with Outlook. To do that, you must enable the IMAP protocol for your Gmail account. Here are the steps:
- Log into your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon at the top right corner of the page, then choose Settings.
- Press Forwarding and POP/IMAP to bring up the POP and IMAP settings.
- Select Enable IMAP.
- Save Changes.
After you have done the steps above, you have successfully enabled the IMAP protocol for your Gmail account. The next thing is to setup the Gmail in outlook account.
